Spirit of the Woods Hike- December 2012

Today was the trail club hike, and we held it at Ludington State Park. The people who showed up were three new folks. Well, sort of. One of them had come to National Trails Day, but it was her first hike with us.

We did a six mile loop and had an awesome time. We stopped at one of the remaining CCC shelters in the park to eat lunch. This is one of my very favorite places in the park. It's on Hamlin Lake, and always peaceful. It just seems so private and perfect.

One of the other great views from the route we took (the Ridge Trail out and the Island Trail on the return) includes this view of Lake Michigan.

There were a number of other truly beautiful moments, but I didn't manage to get pictures of any of them. More on that another day.

A winner of a day!

What beautiful sights to see on your hike. At least you managed to capture some images.

I love finding places that are secluded and not over run by crowds. Perfect peaceful spot

Nice! It's good that you got some new people out there too.

Chuck- I got the important ones. The others were fluff.

Ann- This place is far enough out on the trails that not so many people get to it.

Carole- Nice to see you. I have to get your blog moved higher on my reduced list so that I'm visiting you more often.

Hi Jackie- Maine is an awesome place

Lin- We've been seriously hoping for some!
